"We turn environmental load into a character judgment." This sums why I refuse to go back to working in an office --- especially working with men and women who don't understand peri and menopause. I worked in radio for many years--- a very toxic environment and of course, the workspace design wasn't set up to nurture my nervous system.
Thank you, Michelle. And yes, that office piece is real.
So many people treat the environment like it’s neutral, then judge the person when her body starts responding to it.
A loud room, harsh lighting, constant interruption, and no recovery space can take a lot out of a nervous system, especially during peri- and menopause.
I don’t blame you at all for knowing what kind of workspace your body can and can’t keep absorbing.
That’s exactly why I keep saying the workplace conversation has to include people, policy and place.
